The GlassHouse: Stained Glass specialists Since 2000

The GlassHouse was founded by Bryony Benwell. Bryony, with her 35 years of experience, harnesses a deep-rooted passion for glass, which began with a four-year apprenticeship in stained glass at the prestigious York Minster studios, The York Glaziers Trust. There, she mastered the nuances of stained glass, from its meticulous design to the conservation of age-old medieval panels.

Background

Having completed her apprenticeship, Bryony spent the following years working as part of a stained glass conservation team at the world renowned stained glass company in Hertfordshire, Chapel Studio, working under Peter Archer FMGP, Robert Holloway A.C.R., FMGP and Alfred Fisher MBE, FMGP, FRSA. Bryony eventually became the head of the conservation team and went on to work on some large scale conservation and restoration projects.

Bryony launched The GlassHouse to offer bespoke, finely crafted glass artworks. Her vision was to oversee every aspect of a commission—from the initial concept and design to production and installation—ensuring the best quality product.

Bryony collaborates with a skilled team of freelancers to bring each project to life:

  • Lindsay Abbot and Petri Anderson, experts in stained glass painting
  • John Dilworth, a specialist in installing and site work, and the creative force behind our metal sculptures, ensures that every installation is seamless.

Our team is chosen for their talent, experience, and, most importantly, their enthusiasm.
